Mandi Carver | Associate Head Coach

Mandi Carver, a former Big Sky Conference Player of the Year who enjoyed a decorated professional career, enters her fourth season with the Bulldogs. She was hired on May 21, 2014 as an assistant coach and was promoted to associate head coach in July 2016.

Carver's coaching emphasis is with the Bulldogs' post players. She also serves as the program's recruiting coordinator.

Under Carver, multiple Bulldogs have earned All-Mountain West honors. She played a large role in the development of Bego Faz Davalos who became a two-time Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year (2016, 2017), and twice earned All-MW and All-MW Defensive Team honors. The center set five school records and eight conference records. During the 2016-17 season, she ranked in the top 10 nationally in seven stat categories.

In Carver's first year at Fresno State, she aided in Alex Sheedy being named 2015 Co-Mountain West Player of the Year, the first Bulldog to earn the honor since the school joined the league. Faz Davalos was also named to the All-Freshmen Team during that season.

In three conference tournaments, Carver's post players have accounted for four of the team's five all-tournament team selections.

Carver last was an assistant coach at San Jose State from 2011-13 and before that served one season as an assistant at Bakersfield. At both schools she held the role of recruiting coordinator as well to her coaching duties. At SJSU, working with the post players, she was instrumental in the development of first-team All-WAC forward Brittany Johnson, who led the WAC in scoring in 2011-12 at 20.1 points per game.

In her lone season at Bakersfield, she played an integral role in helping the team achieve a record 22 wins and advance all the way to the Women’s Basketball Invitation championship game.

Carver got into coaching after a lengthy and distinguished professional playing career. After signing as a free agent with the Detroit Shock of the WNBA in 2002, she played professionally overseas from 2002-09 with the Duran Maquinaria Ensino, AD Vargos, Asteras Exarheion, Antranik-Beirut, TTT-Riga, CSKA-Sofia, Brunnen Basket, Panathinaikos and COB Calais.

She helped lead her teams to championships in the French League, the Swiss Cup, Adriatic League, Bulgarian League, Latvian League, Arad Club and was a EuroCup Competition participant.

Individually, Carver was honored as the Swiss League MVP, Latvian League MVP, was a two-time All-Star selection in Greece and the Arab Clubs Tournament MVP.

Carver played collegiately at Idaho State, where she was a three-time All-Big Sky selection, the 2001 Big Sky Player of the Year, a three-time Academic All-Conference selection and was honored as one of the Big Sky Conference Top 25 Female Athletes.

She graduated as Idaho State’s all-time leader in scoring, rebounding and blocked shots and as a senior in 2001-02 led the nation in rebounding.

Carver graduated from Idaho State in 2002 with a bachelor’s degree in arts and communication. She also obtained a master’s of accounting and financial management in 2008 from the Keller Graduate School of Management.
